See You At The Fair!

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

Hi Everyone - I’m excited to announce that I’ll be out at the Great New York State Fair in Syracuse at the 93Q Boom Box, with Ted and Amy, the popular morning show hosts! This will be on Saturday, September 2nd, from 12 to 2 pm.  As many of you already know, I’m the “Resident Psychic” for the radio station, and have been appearing regularly on the show with Ted and Amy for many years. This is the first year they’ve invited me out to the Fair, though, and I’m so psyched! I’ll be doing the live “mini readings” as I do on the air, with people in the audience. On the radio, we tend to stick to the “Crossing Over” type readings of departed loved ones, but I will probably do a bit of everything out at the Fair. Come ask questions, get a little reading, and I’m sure you’ll have some laughs with Ted and Amy doing their usual schtick!

The boombox is the big, outdoor booth that many radio stations use, and rain or shine, I’ll be out there! It’s located just past the Dairy Building. I hope you’ll come to see me and get a little taste of what I do, and to encourage you, I’ll be handing out $5 off coupons for sessions with me!

Thanks for checking out my blog - hope to hear from you!

Transferring Old Blog - Part 2

Hi everyone - sorry I haven’t posted in a while, summer has been quite hectic! Hope you’re all having fun and staying “tuned in”! Someone has posted a question:

“I have pretty good intuition but am interested in knowing if there is a way that I can get “feelings” about things more often. How do I develop stronger, more prevalent intuition? Thank you.”

The only way that I know of to increase your intuition is to use it more often, on a regular basis, to make it become something that you not only recognize and can turn on and off, but that your critical, analytical mind won’t censor and keep you from using. To do that, you need to ask yourself for a feeling, or hunch, or reaction other than your logic, when anything comes up that does not have an obvious and immediate answer. For example, when the phone rings, ask yourself first who it is - just quickly, without thinking, say to yourself “that’s Mary” or “I bet that’s Mom” before you pick it up. If you analyze it, then you’re using the wrong side of the brain - the left side, or intellect. You need to jump right into your feelings, or senses, which is the right brain, and so it has to be quick and non-judgmental. You won’t always be right, but the more you do it and you ARE right, then your inner self will start to know what information you’re looking for, and where you might find it. Some people get a gut feeling literally in their stomach, while others get pictures or words in their mind. Sometimes it’s almost a voice that you hear, or it might be a memory of something else. You’ll start to recognize your own signs and symbols. A more advanced way to do this is to locate where in your brain you store your intuitions! Bring back to your memory an intuitive thought that you had, or even a dream, that you now know has come true and was accurate. Where, exactly, did you see that picture in your mind’s eye? Where did you have a feeling in your body? Can you recreate the picture or feeling? Once you know the actual location that your mind uses to store or file the information, you can turn your attention to that spot to find new information! It’s amazing, but it works - if you’ve ever heard of NLP, which stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming, it describes this and much more, it’s very fascinating. In any case, try it - it works!

But, any time you have a feeling or hunch or picture, pay attention - the more you do, the more your intuitive self will trust that you’re going to listen and pay attention, and thus you’ll get more! Practice makes perfect, but it definitely gets easier.

Thanks for the question!

Learning Mediumship

Hi Everyone - hope you had a great holiday! Here’s a question from a reader:

Hi Debbie,

I also live in Syracuse also.

I have been ghost hunting for a few months now. I started taking a tape recorder to the cemeteries with me and I started getting evp’s. my ex-husband died recently and it seems that now, I get evp’s where ever I go, from all different spirits. I also get feelings now when they are around me and even see them sometimes, if only for a second. My question is, Is it possible to learn mediumship? Is it something that can be studied? Is it a gift and if it is. how does one know if they posess this gift?

Wednesday, July 05, 2006 8:14:12 PM

Hi - how exciting! I’d say right off the bat that you must be a naturally gifted person, a medium or psychic, since you are having these feelings and visions. I am what’s called a trained medium, having gotten my training with the Spiritualist Church back in my 20’s. I had already had visitations, visions and psychic curiosity in my teens, and when I moved to Boston, Mass. it was an interest in the supernatural, as well as a need to make friends and meet people, that drew me to the Church. They believe in life after death and communication with the dead, proven through mediumship, whether it’s messages or healing from beyond. You can check them out at http://www.nsac.org/. I believe there are some Spiritualist Churches in the Syracuse area, but I’m not familiar with any details about them.

So, the answer is yes, mediumship can be learned, but it helps to have a strong natural ability! Everyone is psychic to some extent, it’s part of our makeup as human beings with instincts and intuition. With classes, you learn to trust what you’re receiving, learn how to interpret the symbols, and how to turn it on and off when you want to. You can also have the opportunity to practice in a safe environment, as well as learn techniques and shortcuts to develop your own talents. I urge you to keep doing what you’re doing, and seek out a teacher to help you develop your obvious talent!

PS While I’m not actively teaching such classes this summer, anyone interested in future classes is welcome to email me with your contact information. I do teach in private sessions, tailoring the session to your needs and desires, and helping you to fine tune your mediumistic or psychic talents. Write or call for more information!

Old Souls, Akashic Records

Here are some great questions from Stacy:

Stacey said…

I have two questions regarding the past life questions and answers. First, what is your opinion on the concept of someone having an “old soul” versus a “young soul”? Second, in regards to learning from (or not needing to know about)our past lives, what is your opinion about the Akashick Records?

Hi Stacy - thanks for asking these, they do come up a lot in my work. My opinion of the Old Soul/Young Soul controversy is this: We’ve all apparently had many, many lifetimes, probably an infinite number, so why are some souls “older” than others? I think it has to do with what we learn and accomplish in each lifetime. It’s just like two kids that go to college; one parties for 4 years and barely graduates, but the other one studies hard and graduates Magna Cum Laude! The Old Soul has gone thru his or her many lives and has actually learned something from the vast experiences in each one, finally choosing to become wiser and more loving - which I think is the whole reason for these lifetimes, anyway! The loving part - I think that we’re learning love from every angle, and that’s why we have all these diffferent circumstances, to give us the opportunity to learn and feel and discover, and finally to choose what we’re going to be like and what we will be “vibrating” as in our existence as a soul. So the young souls, in my opinion, still haven’t quite learned that we shouldn’t be killing people, or beating on poor defenseless creatures, or chopping down the rain forest, etc. The young souls are still learning, usually the hard way, that what you sow is what you reap, but they’re not willing to accept that this is the truth of why “bad” things happen to them! Old Souls, regardless of how smart or rich or fortunate they are, just seem to understand. They’re the ones that perform random acts of kindness, and adopt stray dogs, and give unconditional love wherever and whenever they can. They’re not perfect, by any means, but they just seem to “get it”, and try harder to understand the big picture and where they fit into it.

The Akashic Records are thought to be the sum total of our entire experience, sort of like a vast library of the entire history of the Universe, including the individual histories of each being. It is said that a psychic or intuitive person is actually tapping into these records when they are coming up with information in readings, etc. Whether or not they are the location that we go to for answers and such, it seems that it is certainly helpful to know of our lifetimes, and to have insight from them. However, my Teachers have always said that everything we need to know is contained in this lifetime. That is, if you had no opportunity to know of other lives, or no belief in them, you wouldn’t need to know them in order to grow or develop as necessary. All you need is already in the history of this lifetime, which is available to you.

Hope this is helpful - thanks for writing!

Answering a question…

“Anonymous” left a comment that I’d like to answer here:

Anonymous said…

If we can create what we desire in our life, then why am I not able to find my true match? I want that more than anything and it hasn’t happened. I don’t get it!

And my answer:

Boy, can I relate! I totally understand your frustration with this. But the key to the whole thing is that we don’t create from our CONSCIOUS desires - otherwise, every time we said we wanted something we’d have it immediately! We’d stick to our diets, quit smoking, save money, be nice, act responsibly - we’d all be perfect! No, unfortunately, we create from a much more potent and strong part of our selves - the subconscious. That’s why, try as we might, we still don’t change any of those things I just mentioned - because our subconscious desires, or beliefs, wants or needs, are stronger than the conscious ones.

So in my opinion, the first step is to look at what you’ve got. In other words, the “proof of the pudding” - that is, your reality in the moment. Using your example, what you have in the moment is your manifestation of the LACK of your true match. You have perfected and become expert at NOT HAVING that thing. So apparently, if it’s true that we manifest what we desire, your actual SUBCONSCIOUS desire is to NOT HAVE that match. That’s what you’ve created, so it must be what you want. I know, it seems weird, but follow me on this.

Again, in my opinion, everything we have that we’ve manifested is a result of a desire - just not one we necessarily would have in our conscious mind or by our conscious, intellectual definition. However, the subconscious, as far as I can tell, is always trying to help us. Over and over, throughout the years that I’ve helped hundreds and hundreds of people with hypnosis, the inner being comes out as that part that wants to help, or protect, or defend, or be strong, or good, or courageous, or female, or male, or whatever. It ALWAYS has a reason for what it does, and it’s doing it from some belief that says that that action or manifestation will HELP the person in some way.

Usually, as very young children, we have had a need of some sort, and we can’t get that need filled easily, so we come up with a plan that works for the moment. Let’s say we’re unhappy, or lonely, and there’s no one around to make us feel better. We either happen to pick up something sweet, or are given it, but we eat something sweet and feel better - whatever it is, it becomes a momentary fix to the problem. An action filled a need.

Now, the subconscious is very literal - it has no judgmental ability. It can’t come back 20 or 30 years later and say “wait a minute, just because this worked when I was 3, it doesn’t help me now!” It just keeps using that same action to fill the need, or to make that person feel better. It’s trying to help! So - unhappy equals food to make happy. To the subconscious, it makes perfect sense.

So, back to the question of manifesting the true match. If what you have is the LACK, we have to figure out WHY the subconscious feels that the LACK is the helpful or positive action. It continues to manifest the thing that at some point was useful in some way. So now you have to do some sleuthing - the first thing to ask yourself is how could this possibly be a good thing?

There’s lots of answers, and many times, they’re not necessarily logical. But if NOT having that mate in your life makes you more independent, or it makes you stronger, or it keeps you on your diet, or getting to work on time, or living with your mother, or whatever, then it’s helping you, by the subconscious mind’s definition.

Oftentimes, however, it gets more complex than this. The act of NOT having will often reinforce a seemingly negative feeling or belief. It might make you feel less confident or less lovable or not attractive, etc. How is that helping?

You have to dig again - those are fear-based beliefs that you are not good enough in some way. In my opinion, even those beliefs are manifested to HELP you, according to the subconscious aspect. So, let’s pretend that the little 2 year old got more attention when she was having a tantrum - not very lovable, but she got Mommy’s attention! Or maybe when she was scared and ran to Daddy for reassurance, and that hug from him felt really good - so having a lack of confidence today is supposed to bring “Daddy” around to make her feel better! (We probably all know women who have this used this!).

Whatever the case, and I don’t mean to oversimplify the psychology of it all, it seems that the subconscious is doing it’s best to follow the orders and programs that we gave it all those many years ago.

So the message here is: look at what you’ve GOT to find out what you WANT - if that WANT is in contradiction to your conscious desires, then find out what that original programming was and change it!

The proof is always in the pudding - whatever you are staring at is exactly what you’ve wanted, subconsciously. Now, find out what the reason behind it is, so you can either get that message and work with it, or move on. Sometimes it’s just old programming. When we were young and scared or inexperienced, then certain things made sense. Nowadays they just might be perpetuated in our lives because of habit or lack of understanding or fear of change.

Maybe you’ll find they still have meaning, but that you could work with the problem from a different perspective, including the use of your adult intellect. Perhaps working with a therapist would help with that.

If you have a chance to work with a hypnotist on this stuff, it’s very helpful, and in my opinion, quicker and more direct than traditional therapy. You’d go in and find out the why’s and the wherefores from your subconscious, and then ask that inner being to work with a new program and plan for helping you to get what you want now!

You can also do it through meditation, or journal writing, or just puzzling it out. A great technique is outlined by a wonderful author, Lucia Cappachione, in “Recovery of Your Inner Child” (Paperback, 1991) which I just saw for sale on Half.com, as well as another of her many books, “The Power of Your Other Hand”. These books tell you how to access that inner part of yourself (and I also use it to access my Spirit Guides) by using your non-dominant hand to write. Essentially, you write a question with your normal, dominant hand, then put the pen in the other hand to write the answer! It’s quite amazing and works extremely well. Try it!

So, Anonymous, I completely understand where you’re coming from with that question - I don’t have my true match in my life, either! But I can certainly see why not - and by not manifesting that person, I’m “helping” myself to be stronger, more comfortable in my life as a single, independent person, and also, I’m making myself lonely and pitiable, apparently hoping that someone will come along and befriend me! Great stuff, huh? Oh well, I’m working on it! LOL!

Thanks for posting - keep those cards and letters coming, folks!

What are you creating?

A dear friend of mine is going through quite a crisis in her life. After being happily married for 24 years, she recently ran into an old love, who professed his undying love to her! She was tempted, but stayed with her husband, who she told about the old flame and how it affected her. The husband was naturally concerned and swore he’d do whatever it would take to make her happy, something he’d been saying for years. Unfortunately, he’s not much at the follow-through. With all good intentions, after a few weeks of “good” behavior, meaning being more attentive and appreciative of her, he’s back to his old habits. He tends to ignore her, not listening to her or paying attention to her needs, etc. He’s not mean or abusive by any means - just not interested, or interesting. She knows he loves her, as she does him, but she’s asking herself - is this how she wants to spend the rest of her life? Now that the only child is leaving for college, things will be even worse.

What’s the most interesting to me, is that she announced to me that she’s giving it 2 years - that the husband has that long to “step up his game” and improve, or she’s going to leave him. She’s told him this, and he swears he wants to save the marriage, but is incapable of change - he’s just not emotional, he doesn’t want to talk about his feelings, he’s not able to be any different. He refuses to go to counselling with her, etc.

So even though it’s out in the open, and discussed, his behavior and attitudes toward her are the same that they have been for years - and her response to him is the same, as well. She gets upset, and complains, and then life goes on.

My answer to her was this: as long as she continues to accept these answers from him, then it’s clear to me that she’s just waiting for the 2 years to be up so she can leave with a clear conscience. In other words, as she continues to “enable” him to NOT improve, she can be certain that nothing will change, but that she doesn’t have to be the “bad guy” in the relationship by just leaving for no apparent reason.

Why am I writing about this here? Because I’m all about looking at what we have in our lives as our manifestation of what we want. WE ARE THE CREATORS OF OUR UNIVERSE! She has had this scenario in her life for many years; the old flame coming into the picture (in my beliefs, this was no accident) just “upped the ante” for her and got her attention a little. It isn’t that she wants to leave the husband for the old boyfriend; she just wants to leave her boring existence and go into something more exciting and self loving.

It came as quite a surprise to her that she might be creating her own ticket out of the marriage - in her mind, the husband was doing all that! But my opinion is, we’re always manifesting our own situation, perhaps in conjunction with others, but certainly for our own satisfaction, one way or the other.

What are you creating in your life these days? Is it happy? Exciting? Boring? Fulfilling? Are you “enabling” someone else to continue your unhappiness? What are you choosing? Do you really recognize that you have choices?

Take responsibility! Make your life what you want it to be - start small if you have to, but start now!

Ok, I’ll get off the soapbox now! :)

Psychic Parties and…

Someone posted a great question which I thought I’d answer here -

“Anonymous said…

Hi, I never thought of having a medium or psychic at a party, but it sounds like a fantastic idea! How does it work? Do you go into a separate room with each partygoer, or is the reading in front of all? If the latter, does that affect or distract you from your reading?”

Yes, at parties I’m set up in a separate room so the reading is still private, often I’m put in a bedroom or den, but have also been given the attic, cellar, or even the garage! LOL! Wherever there’s a little room to sit and talk is fine - and then the readings proceed normally, with all the usual questions.

These parties are great excuses to get everyone together at your home, especially for those people who might not have the nerve to go get a reading on their own, but with the moral support of their family and friends, they’ll take the plunge! Then everyone usually sits around and discusses their readings over coffee and cake, or chips and dip, and it’s often very interesting that another person will have more insight to someone’s reading than they had for themselves.

The only real distractions for me, at any time, are persistent loud noises (like a screaming baby or a mechanical noise or loud music), or if someone’s drunk! That’s where I draw the line, folks - if you’re too drunk to be able to focus both eyeballs on me, you’re too drunk for a reading! LOL!

Here’s the rest of the post from Anonymous:

“I have another question, a little more general: What happens when you get BAD vibes from someone? At a party, I guess that would be particularly bad. Have you ever “read” someone and felt there was some great harm coming to them? Do you tell them?

Thanks! I love your website and hope to hear back from you soon!”

Another great question - I often get bad vibes, but I suppose it depends on your definition of “bad”. If someone is very negative, that is, pessimistic or angry or depressed, that will give a certain negative energy to everything in their life, not just their reading! I always believe, however, that I’m tuning in at a much deeper level, and bypass that level of emotion or attitude. For example, people will often come to their session very stressed or tired, even sick, and ask if it will affect what I’m getting for them - and no, I don’t think it does, because I’m not reading them at the physical or even superficial emotional levels.

Meanwhile, another “bad” vibe could be negative information that I’m given - well, the fact is that not everything is going to be rosy in our lives, and in our readings. However, my “deal” with my Guides is that they frame the information in the most positive way possible. So, for example, if there is the potential for an accident because of your car, they might “strongly suggest that the car have a tune up” or something, rather than scaring you with “your brakes will fail tomorrow and you’ll be killed!” In the old days, fortunetellers seemed to gauge their reputations on how scary and fearsome they could be. I’ve always considered myself to be a New Age practitioner, taking responsibility for the content, and delivery, of the information that I give out. I never want to plant a negative seed in someone’s mind when it’s not necessary and potentially harmful. So - I do my best to give the most effective and positive spin on the information, in order for it to be as useful and practical as possible. However, if something “bad” needs to be said, it will be - I never censor or hold back any information that’s given to me. If I get it, it means that I’m supposed to give it - going back to my belief that there are no coincidences or accidents in the Universe - topic for another discussion!

Thanks, Anonymous - please comment again soon!

More about Me!

I’ve had a lot of email lately regarding my readings, and here’s a quick answer - I love getting your emails and comments, please jump in and talk to me!

One writer asked which was stronger, my gifts as a Medium or a Psychic?

“My readings are a mixture of my mediumship and psychic abilities, and to be honest, I can’t always say which is which! The usual understanding is that the information from deceased loved ones is using the medium/trance type gift, but quite frankly, I don’t differentiate - it just comes tumbling out of my mouth, from pictures, words and feelings that I receive in a pretty constant stream. That being said, I think my “medium” side is strong than my psychic side, but that’s just my opinion, and the fact that I seem to have a knack for tuning into people (dead or alive!) more than things.

So I contact the Other Side, but also talk about romance, career, family, pets, money, you name it! I touch on health, but don’t feel it’s my strong point and hate to have people rely on a reading for something so important as a health question! However, I often will receive advice on that, as well as other things like real estate, tr”avel, colleges, past lives, Spirit Guides and Angels, etc. Basically I’ll tune into whatever is of interest to you, and tell you what I get! If I don’t get any answer, I’ll tell you that, too.

I see people in my office, or I do house parties. If you have a party, you get a free reading! There is a minimum depending on where you live; at the parties, the readings are only the 15 minute ones, but are also taped. They are still private, and cover all the same type of information, they’re just shorter! The hostess collects the money in advance and sends my deposit in advance as well.

Right now Saturdays are pretty much all booked up thru Labor Day, but afternoons and evenings during the week are much more open! You can write me back here or call me at 315-247-9088.”

So that sort of sums it up!

More about Past Lives?

I had a wonderful exchange with a dear lady who reads this blog, and strangely enough, does NOT agree with most of what I say! LOL! Anyway, one of her comments gave me a thought to write about here, and this is what she said:

“I have found, in my own lifetime, that life itself is as much as i can contend with sometimes; and i truly worry about people who spend a great deal of time thinking about past and future lives (which is the crux of what you do as a medium). it’s simplistic (a matter of faith or lack of thought, i don’t know which) but i believe: Live now. Act, do, see, love, all those present-tense verbs…. in the present!”

I’d like to just say first that I agree 100% - everything we do, the only thing we can affect, the truly enlightened way to be, is in the present - we can’t change the past, and our present actions create our future. Furthermore, I was taught many years ago by my Guides that everything we need to know, in order to grow and develop, is contained in this lifetime - in other words, we have no need for knowledge of our past lives.

I’ve always felt this way, and indeed, when I first started out as a Medium I refused to discuss past lives or reincarnation, as I felt that it was unable to be proven and therefore “suspect” information. After some interesting experiences wherein I spontaneously regressed to other times (just sitting around minding my own business, I’d suddenly be somewhere else! Or during meditation or trance, I’d be “me” in another lifetime) I finally decided that the information might have some merit, as long as everyone realized it was more for curiousity and entertainment value, more than anything else. In fact, I just yesterday worked with a client who wanted to know her past lives in order to understand her horrible family experiences in this life. She hoped she might find out something that would explain why she would “choose” to return with that family and those circumstances.

We tried to regress her, but she wouldn’t budge when it came time to view her lifetimes, so I proceeded to give her a reading of the ones shown to me as influencing this life. To make a long story short, they were about her need to maintain her integrity in the face of persecution, from the Spanish Inquisition to a lifetime as a nun in a convent. Big surprise, eh? Well, not to me, but actually, it was very enlightening for her. Once we discussed that she not only still felt the need to PROVE her integrity, to VALUE her own safety and comfort, and to ACCEPT her need for self love and respect, she finally seemed to understand why she perpetuated the torture into this lifetime. And, that only she could change it, and NOT by changing her family!

However, a good psychologist could have told her the same thing, and indeed, a prior reading with me had already done so! I guess what I’m saying is that by illustrating quite graphically her other lifetimes, with vivid pictures and descriptions of much pain and suffering, she was able to better see the reasons for similar (albeit tamer) soap opera in this lifetime. Could she have come to this conclusion without ever knowing those details? Of course. Did it help? Yes.

Meanwhile, as to my friend’s other comment that “thinking about past and future lives…is the crux of what you do as a medium” - nothing could be further from the truth! A Medium is simply a vehicle or channel for energy from another source - so a telephone, or television, or radio, are all “mediums” for transferring energy (that becomes information) to this dimension. It might also be healing energy, instead of words. A minister, a doctor, a schoolteacher, are also Mediums.

I personally believe I’m bringing information, and healing energy, from my Higher Self, the Universe, other entities, and from my clients’ Higher Selves. This information is mostly going to be about their lives, but might also be teachings, or healing energy flowing thru me to whatever part of them needs it (physical body, emotional body, etc.) and could then also include past life information. However, this is often not even brought up, as relatively few people are interested in it or care to hear it; certainly, in a typical half hour session, for example, we may not want to take the time to discuss something that nebulous, but rather, stick to the facts of their present day issues!

So I wanted to clear that up - mediumship is definitely NOT all about past lives, it’s just that this blog has gotten off on that tangent - and I’m thrilled we’ve gotten to have these discussions!

Keep those comments coming (and thanks, T!).

Responding to Questions on Past Lives

Hi Everyone and hello to GerieRuth and Sandra! Im sorry Ive taken so long to get back to your comments and questions. Sandra, thanks so much for jumping in to respond to GerieRuth! Here, finally, are my replies to her questions:

I have many questions about reincarnation, past lives, future lives. To begin with I have been taught all my life that you only go around once. I have recently began taking a look at many things in the light of the possibility of it being a reality. If we continue to connect with the same people, souls, then could your mother have been your sister before or your husband your father?

Yes, Gerieruth, its my understanding that we keep coming back to have physical lives that give us the possibility of learning love from all angles. Therefore, we would be in every possible position with other people - parent, child, sibling, or healer, murderer, slave, whatever and its also my understanding that by continuing to interact with the same souls, generally speaking, you carry over the soap opera youve already started, and keep moving forward. Its a lot like the shows we watch on TV they come back season after season and pick up where they left off! That seems to be the idea behind Karma that you have Cause and Effect, starting something at one time and finishing it another. And since the Universe is so efficient, it would make sense that you wouldnt start from scratch every lifetime with new people, but rather keep going with what youve already begun. Not to say that we dont interact with new people as well, but I question if they are ever really new to us!

I have been amiss on this amputee syndrome I have heard about for years. Are you familiar with this? Could this be a person in this life that is so connected to a traumatic event (loss of a single or multiple limbs) from a previous life that they are not happy until they have that or those limbs removed in this lifetime?

Thats an interesting concept! I would look at it a little differently, from the thousands of readings Ive done over the years. Apparently, our Soul, and the Universe, are very efficient, and just want us to have everything that could help us get the job done in other words, to learn love from every angle. So, if in one lifetime, the loss of a limb served as a great tool for learning that lesson (perhaps by making the person more compassionate to others, or more patient, or whatever) then its possible that the Soul will choose that vehicle for learning again I see this over and over in peoples current lifetimes as well. How many of us continue to have health problems, or money problems, or relationship problems, and over the years nothing really changes? Well, its no different over the lifetimes if in 5 lifetimes you were abandoned, and it taught you something, you might manifest that reality again in this lifetime in order to learn something from it again. But apparently we dont learn very quickly sometimes, do we? LOL!

Does a person get better and better as each life passes? Is it possible for a person to get worse and worse?

Certainly, I think its the overall purpose to get better, or at least, to learn (or actually, to remember) what love is all about, which would likely make us better people eventually, wouldnt it? But the lives are not really linear, one after the other, but rather concurrent, all going on at the same time, from what I understand. Therefore, it might seem as if someone got worse (like a Hitler, for example) in one lifetime, who might be doing wonderful things in some other lifetime at the same time. Confusing, isnt it? I wonder if its like people we read about who are having normal lives in one aspect, and doing something completely different in some other part of their lives Im thinking of someone like a priest, whos seemingly very good and loving and helpful in his work, who is also abusing a child in another moment of his life. Is he getting better or worse? Are any of us all good or all bad? Did Hitler love his mother, and did his girlfriend find something good to love in him?

The population is at an all time high in recorded history. How many souls are there? Do souls multiply?

Ill be honest, I dont really know my understanding of it, again, is that there are an infinite number of souls, coming and going from this reality to others, manifesting physically here and on other planets, etc., without any idea of their numbers. So we could call this an all time high, but it could just be that were counting them better now with better technology! I dont know if they multiply, but I do believe that they merge I think Souls are individual members of larger Oversouls, (groups of souls) who is turn are members of larger Oversouls endlessly and thats where the idea of Soulmates comes from. While were all connected, some are perhaps connected more closely than others like sisters and brothers are more closely related than cousins.

I have been really confused with the issue of people saying they are a man/woman trapped in a woman/man body. Do souls cross over from one gender to another? Could there be some kind of mishap in the cross over if they do cross over?

Its my strongest belief that God doesnt make mistakes! I dont believe that its a Soul trapped in the wrong body; I think either that the Soul chose that vehicle (or soap opera) to learn self-love that way in this lifetime, (most likely) or that the memory of another lifetime as the opposite sex is so strong that they feel theyre in the wrong body (less likely). Weve been everything hundreds of thousands of times male/female, black/white, tall/short, fat/thin, rich/poor, good/bad, you name it. Each time is a choice using free will by that Soul, and I dont believe there is any accident as to what that lifetime offers. Its up to the individual to use what is manifested as a tool for learning, as the Soul intended by choosing it.

Do souls jump from one lifetime to another in animals / people / plants?

Again, my understanding is that perhaps at some very distinct point we are all connected by the energy that were made up of, so that in that sense, we are all animal, vegetable and mineral, and brothers under the skin to every other living thing. However, I also believe that we do not transmigrate from human to other species.

Are souls eternal?

Yes.

How long do souls exist between lifetimes? Where are they when they are not in a body?

You have to remember that there isnt any time as we know it in other dimensions; its purely a construct of the 3rd dimension. So the period between lives is probably not measurable in any way that we would understand it Im always told that its like a blink of an eye. Plus, if its true that our lives are concurrent (happening simultaneously) then the in-between times are lives, too, that are happening at the same time! More and more confusing!! LOL!

See, its only in our pathetic little human brains that we see things as here and there or then and now. Its really all one, were all one, and its all Right Now. Yikes!!

I kind of think of it like this: Right this minute, its Saturday afternoon in Syracuse, NY, in my little house. Im typing this blog, its raining outside, and the music is playing in the background.

But, at the very same instant, my friend in California has different time showing on her clock, different weather outside her house, different activity going on inside, as is true for everyone else the instant is the same, their lives are going on at the same time as mine, just completely unique to them. Meanwhile, theres just millions of realities that I cant even imagine or fathom, that are very real to the people experiencing them, right this minute maybe in a war zone, or an earthquake zone, or in an aboriginal state where modern man has not penetrated. If we tuned in through a reading to those lives right now, we might think they were from some other time altogether, rather than going on at this very moment on April 22, 2006 at 2:08 EST. See what I mean?

Is it possible to know your past lives. If so, how?

Yes, past lives are easily read by psychics and mediums like me, or by regressing through hypnosis or meditation, or through your dreams.

Thanks again, everyone, for visiting my blog and commenting hope to hear from more of you!

Questions about Past Lives

I recently received an email from a person with fascinating questions on reincarnation - here’s an excerpt and my answer:

“I had a brief question on your view on reincarnation. I am a brain injury patient who is gathering information for a possible book on disabilities. I was born a normal person but had an accident which caused brain damage. Anyway my question is whether this type of condition carries over from life to life or whether someone will be born as a normal human being again after a life where they had a disability. If someone has a disability in one life do they have it the next time. Has anyone had any past lives where they were impaired in some way, what was that like, then were they born a normal person again the next time. Can someone be retarded one time, average another, brilliant another. I was wondering if it is possible to get a future life reading and find out if you can look at possible future lifetimes and find out if they will be as a whole normal regular human being again with no disabilities.”

Thanks for writing - those are great questions! What I’ve found after nearly 30 years of working in this field is that we use each lifetime as an opportunity for lots of lessons, experiences, chances to learn new skills or perfect them, and of course the opportunity to be with other beloved Souls.

It’s like choosing a college - before you decide on which one, you think about what you’re interested in learning, who you want to do it with, and what it might cost you. So if you’re looking to learn something really hard, with intense study but great promise of reward, you’ll pick a certain school. Or, if you’re more interested in finding friends and maybe your future mate, you’ll pick a different school. Maybe you want to just be getting better at your skills, and looking for like minded people. In any case, you can also change your mind, or go to more than one school, etc.

That’s how I see the various lifetimes - each life and life experience presents us with vehicles for learning. An injury such as yours has given you infinite opportunities to learn self love, love and appreciation for others, self knowledge and awareness - just look at your questions here - with the thought of writing a book and helping others - who knows if you would have done this if you hadn’t had all this happen to you? You’ve no doubt learned to appreciate the people in your life in a whole new way, and to appreciate your body and your health differently. Perhaps new skills have emerged, or you’ve had to discover hidden strengths in yourself.

So, to answer your question - you very likely did not ever have quite this same thing happen to you in other lifetimes; however, that being said, I’ve often seen a pattern in people’s lifetimes where the use of pain, conflict, physical problems (or emotional ones), or other “soap operas” are used over and over again. It seems like the Soul says “Hmm, this worked in 2 other lifetimes to get good results, so let’s try it again!” And certainly, we travel over and over with the same Souls, who are our Soulmates, to love and help each other each time. (And sometimes the most loving thing in a certain “soap opera” will be to hurt that person, or leave them, or cheat on them - whatever!).

In future lifetimes, the same will be true - as a Soul contemplating your next life, you’ll say to yourself - “Gee, I’m still not very good at being compassionate, or humble, or having high self esteem, so what vehicle would work for me to get those lessons?” And so you’ll pick a family, a gender, a time period, and whatever else will help you achieve your goals. So yes, you could very likely be born healthy and whole, or you could be born with a handicap of some sort. It’s whatever will be the most efficient vehicle for learning and experiencing things.

The thing to remember, actually 2 things, are: The Soul doesn’t care about the short term - it knows it’s eternal and will live again and again, so whatever happens in one lifetime is no different than us saying - well, it’s only 4 years of college, I can live with whatever happens! The second thing is that there are no accidents - we are the creators of our Universe, just as I’m describing here. So at some level of your Being, you needed and wanted your accident to happen for a definite reason (or lots of reasons) to take you further in this lifetime than you would have gone otherwise - according to your Soul’s definition!! Obviously, that’s way different than what you consciously would have wanted, but like I said, the Soul doesn’t look at it that way!

I hope this gives you an idea of how I see it! I’d love to read you some time - we could look into other lifetimes to see if there’s a pattern, and find out why your Soul chose this vehicle for learning in this lifetime. Then we could also look at future lives, but I find those the hardest to pin down, because what you do in this lifetime will effect your future choices - just like our example of the colleges! If you do well in one college, it will make a difference as to what you do after that! Same with this lifetime - you’ll have learned a great deal, so what might be the next choice for your Soul as of the date of your reading, might not be the ultimate choice your Soul makes 10 or 20 or 50 years later.

More About Mirrors…

I had a very interesting talk with an old client and friend who is having trouble getting her head around her child’s choice of a homosexual lifestyle. She feels that it’s so unnatural and personally repulsive that she can’t possibly accept her child’s new life partner or the lifestyle changes involved. At the same time, she lamented that this same child had never forgiven her for the long-ago divorce that divided the family. It was suddenly so clear to me that the mirror (the lesson needing to be learned) was the lack of acceptance and unconditional love for the PERSON involved, NOT for the ACTION! How many times do we see that being the stumbling block - we hate or dislike or disapprove of the thing, or the action, or the end result, but we take it out on the person behind it - in effect, killing the messenger when we don’t like the message! As we came to see in our discussion, it didn’t really matter if she never came to an agreement about the lifestyle choice - she didn’t have to ever come to like it - she just had to remember her priorities, which of course were her child’s happiness and that her child know and feel her unconditional love. After all, wasn’t that what she’d been wanting from her child regarding the divorce?

This was a big eye-opener for me some years ago, when Marianne Williamson, author of “A Return to Love” and other books based on the Course in Miracles, spoke on how our parents often made us feel like bad children, totally unworthy and unlovable, when it was our behavior that they were railing against, not us as people. Unfortunately, my mother in particular was unaware of this distinction, and thus my entire life (so far at least!) has been about trying to be loved and accepted for myself, as I am. As Marianne said, we were made to feel that our worth was in our actions, not that we were worthy of love and validation just for being ourselves, even when our actions were not positive. So, my lifelong “bad girl” traits (being fat, stubborn, lazy, whatever) have made me feel that the person I am is never good enough to be loved, because the label equated with my supposed value, instead of just being lovable by virtue of existing! And of course, my subconscious child-self will perpetuate that very same bad behavior or trait endlessly in order to see if anyone will ever love me in spite of it!

As I’ve said, I firmly believe that all our lessons, and everything we need to know to improve or love or accept ourselves, is shown to us in the people and events in our life. Our mirrors are ever present, as the Universal laws cause them to be, so that we will always have the answers whenever we’re ready to receive them. Knowing my mother as well as I did, I know that she had the same issues with her mother that I had with her. And if I don’t see them in my own life in this moment, I can choose to learn from my friend’s experience - her mirror is in MY face for a reason, too! That revelation was for both of us, for sure! I always say that I get my own best reading by giving one to someone else - whatever “stuff” is going on with them that day, it will certainly pertain to me as well - because we’re mirrors! There are just no accidents in the Universe, of this I am convinced…

Universal Laws

My most enduring passion over the years, working in this New Age field, is the study and use of the Universal Laws, as I understand them. These are the immutable laws that govern all of us, whether we believe in them or even know about them! The Law of Cause and Effect is the most compelling to me - that what we do is exactly what will be done to us, or what we sow is what we reap. It’s so clear and unfortunately, often slaps me in the face, that if I’m suffering from something unpleasant or unfair or in any way negative, that this is a direct result of something that I’ve done! Of course, it’s also true that when good things happen, it’s because that’s what I’ve been putting out there. So, for example, when we are generous or patient or helpful, we find that others are that way to us. But, as I so often find, when I’m NOT patient (just about always!) or if I’m too hasty or not cautious, it REALLY comes back to haunt me!

To me, though, the most interesting aspect is the Law that says Like Attracts Like (and unlike repels). So, not only what you DO will draw the same to you, but what you ARE will draw the same to you! This is so interesting when we see someone we just love, they’re so funny or smart or kind or whatever. That’s US! We can only see in others what WE ourselves ARE! It’s really hard sometimes to realize that those are our qualities that we are seeing reflected in the mirrors of other people around us. And of course, the negative qualities - the very impatience, or intolerance, or lack of love - that’s us, too, I’m afraid! That’s where the Universe has really given us a great Tool to work on ourselves with - to find out for certain where our blocks are, where we need to be more self loving, and where we need to be accepting and non judgmental of others, for it’s only ourselves that we’re judging.

What do you think? Please post your comments!

Review: Tarot.com

I just wanted to mention that I found that Tarot.com has a number of great opportunities to have a free reading using the Tarot cards (all different decks) as well as the I Ching, etc. I did a reading for myself using the Universal Waite deck and found it to be extremely accurate. You get to choose your cards, while thinking of your questions, and the syncronicity of the Universe will assure that you get the right cards for your answer! I’m always impressed by this, whether the reading is over the phone or in person or like this, on the computer, it still proves that there are no accidents in the Universe, everything is meant to be! I recommend Tarot.com for both free and paid readings, so check it out! (Oh, and remember - I give readings too! Write me or call 315 247 9088 for more information!)

Are You in Transition?

We all go through changes, and major transition is often chaotic and overwhelming. However, sometimes the more subtle changes can be just as bad, and yet are every bit as important. I’m talking about little things - maybe you’re not changing jobs, but you have a new boss, or new hours, or they expect you to learn new things. Or maybe you’re not moving, but you’ve had a grown child come to live at home again, or a new baby arrives. Maybe it’s just a new pet! Whatever the smaller changes might be, they are still a sign that you’re ready to grow and expand on the real You, the Self that is constantly working on getting better and happier and more evolved. So, if like me, you’re experiencing anything like this now - or maybe even the more fun type of transition, like a new boyfriend, your first cruise, or losing 10 lbs and wearing a new size - take full credit for being ready for change and embracing whatever it represents. The bottom line is, it always represents your own self love and self respect, either because you are openly doing something wonderful for yourself, or because you must be forced to love yourself more by getting out of a bad situation. Either way, it’s growt - it’s a Good Thing as Martha would say!

Question about Letting Go

Here’s a question someone posted to the comment section, which I thought I’d like to have appear on the blog page:

Anonymous said…

Dear Debbie,

Someone recently told me that I wasn’t getting what I wanted because I was hanging on too tightly to what I want to happen. They said that I should “release” what I was hanging on to and it would then manifest. Interesting concept but I don’t get HOW you’re supposed to do that. Why does letting go of what you want, bring you what you want? And HOW do you let go? Help!

That’s a great question! Yes, one of the most frustrating pieces of advice is to “Let go” but sometimes that’s a lot easier said than done, isn’t it? The best way that I can picture it is just like when you’re holding something tight in your hand - imagine holding a penny with your hand clasped tightly around it in a fist. Now - you can’t pay for anything with that penny until it leaves your hand, right? You literally have to let go of it, release it, hand it over in order for it serve you and bring you what you want.

It’s the same with our other desires - if you’re holding onto them too tightly, you can’t get them to produce the end result you’re seeking.

So if you’re holding on to the idea “I want that job” or “I want that man” or whatever, the Universe can’t manifest that end result until you release the thought. When we obsess about it, think about it all the time, talk about it endlessly, worry about it, lay awake at night replaying it in our minds, we’re clasping it so tightly to us, just like the penny in your fist, that nothing can come to us regarding it.

So I literally picture myself giving the desire to the Universe (or to God, if you like) by opening my hands and thinking or saying something like “Here, take it, make it happen! I release it and let it go, bring me what I want”. In fact, by doing that, now your hands are open to receive! If they’re still clasped tight, holding the penny, you can’t receive anything, right? So open yourself and release whatever the desire is, not only so the Universe can bring it to you once you’ve handed it over, but also so that your hands are open and ready to receive.

It’s like giving your order to the waiter in the restaurant. When we order what we want for dinner, we hand it over to the waiter. We don’t sit there just thinking about it, holding it to ourselves - we voice it and give it to him to make it happen. We also have the complete faith and confidence that the food will arrive as requested, cooked to our liking and as described. That element of faith and trust is also important - in fact, they say that’s an integral part of manifesting what you want.

There’s an actual formula for manifesting your desires:

First, have the idea of what it is.

Second, feel the burning desire for it.

Third, release it to the Universe for manifestation.

Finally, expect it to come to you with faith and confidence, and gratitude for it’s arrival.

I’ll talk more about this whole idea next time! Hope this is helpful!

Psychic Fair Notes…

Not much time today, it’s Day Two of the Syracuse Psychic Fair and I’m running around trying to get ready to leave. Yesterday was a very quiet day, which is something I wanted to mention to newcomers to the Fairs - if you want to have the best result, try to attend during off-peak times. This particular Fair starts at 11 on Friday morning, so all during the day is rather quiet since most people are at work. Furthermore, the weather here was not great, so that kept more people at home, even after work (it’s open until 10 at night). So for the people who did come, it was quiet, private, and I was as fresh as a daisy! My next recommendation is to try to be there first thing - in other words, I wouldn’t recommend being the very last reading of the day! Not that I don’t always give my best, but hey, I’m only human, and after nearly 12 hours, I’m going to be a bit tired! And by the third day, at the end of that day - well, you can imagine!

In any case, I hope you’ll attend a Fair some time, as it’s fun, informative and definitely different!

Have you ever been to a Psychic Fair?

Today through Sunday (Feb 17-19) I’ll be working at a big Psychic Fair here in Syracuse, and thought I’d write about it today. For me, it’s a mix of excitement and anticipation, with a touch of dread! Well, of course I’m excited, because it’s a lot of fun - I’ll end up reading between 75 and 85 people, which is a lot of readings - and it’s great to meet up with old friends and see their wares and talk about things we’re all interested in. I love meeting new people, and indeed, just love people watching, which is easy to do there since it’s very well attended - usually wall-to-wall people! Besides the readers there are people selling books, crystals, herbs, jewelry and aura photos, massages and Reiki healings. The dread comes in because it really is a very long weekend - from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. both Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. It’s tiring, and somewhat hard on the body from sitting on those hotel chairs all weekend! But still, it’s a good time, and I’m always very grateful for the opportunity.

This is a wonderful way for someone who has never had a reading to get a taste for it - you can walk around, look at everyone’s information (we all have flyers and brochures, and are very willing to answer any questions) and you can attend lectures, etc. I always recommend that you walk around a few times, get a feeling for a person or booth that draws your attention, read their literature, then sit and observe that person in action, giving a reading. Try to notice how their client reacts, are they engaged, does it seem that they are happy with the reading? Don’t hesitate to ask the person after they leave the booth how they liked it.

There are many different prices and options at the fairs - not only can you try all the different types of readings, from a channeled reading like mine to tarot cards, palmistry, astrology, etc., but you can get a general reading, past lives, and other specifics. You can also spend less or more, from “Readers Row” which is a bare bones reading from someone who has not purchased a booth, and therefore gives a shorter reading for less money at a price set by the Fair promoter, or a short or long reading from a boothholder who can charge anything they wish. All prices are posted by the readers, as well as the things they accept such as checks or charge cards, and if a tape is included. (For my readings, for example, I will accept cash, checks or charge, and the tape is included.)

People often ask me about the privacy factor, and what I tell them is that it turns out that no one can really hear us, especially because the noise around us acts sort of like a barrier. However, you can of course be seen, and your reactions can be noted by others, if that’s a concern to you. For example, I often find that people get emotional during my readings, since we’re tuning into departed loved ones, or other topics that are close to the heart. If you’d rather be in a more private setting for this, then it’s best to have your reading at my office! On the other hand, you would not be alone if you shed a tear or two, it’s a very common occurrence at the fairs. We laugh a lot, as well!

If you’d like to come visit us, it’s at the Holiday Inn on Electronics Parkway in Liverpool, NY, which is at the corner of 7th North Street, or take Thruway Exit 37. Be sure to stop by my booth and say hello!

How To Have A Reading

I know that sounds funny, how to have a reading, but there are certain things that I recommend you do and don’t do to make sure your experience is a positive one! First, there is the common misconception that you shouldn’t give the reader your name, or at least not your whole name. While I personally don’t care and don’t ask for your whole name, unless you want to be on my mailing list, it shouldn’t be something you need to be afraid of giving out (unless you’re paranoid about it, in which case you don’t need a psychic, you need a psychiatrist! LOL!) Basically, this was an idea from years and years ago, that a psychic or fortune teller would be able to look you up in the area by your name, or ask around about you, and then act as if they had psychically gotten information about you. I suppose in the old days this was possible, especially as the readers might actually be with a circus or carnival coming to town, and the scout would go ahead of their arrival to put up signs and drum up business. However, nowadays, I’ve never heard of anything like this happening - it’s just not necessary! If you’re going to be conned or scammed by a so-called psychic, they are so good at what they’re doing that they don’t even need to look up information about you. And a real psychic doesn’t need to do this, either!

The next myth I’d like to “bust” is that you shouldn’t give anything away during the reading, such as answering the reader’s comments, or nodding or shaking your head. Some people sit there like a stone, masterfully hiding any response at all and barely even breathing! Again, the psychic isn’t basing what they get on your words or actions, if they’re for real. Furthermore, I personally find it very difficult to proceed with someone acting so strangely and often ask them to take a deep breath and relax! Your stress and tension is going to keep you from hearing everything I’m saying, and keep you from enjoying your reading, or even from getting much of the advice given - you’ll be too preoccupied with your own response. Your comments, such as “Yes”, “No”, “I don’t understand” or whatever, are certainly helpful in making the information flow better for the reader. If you respond one way or the other, the reader knows to follow that line of thought, that the information they’re receiving is accurate and fruitful, or that they should dig deeper or ask for more clarification and guidance if it’s not ringing true for you.

Conversely, please don’t start your reading by giving all your information up front! Again, I personally will immediately ask you to stop speaking and let me talk first, as I don’t want you to tell me too much. Not only does this possibly color something I might receive, but you could easily walk away later feeling cheated, that I wasn’t getting information for you psychically. Along these lines, then, if you have something that’s of paramount importance, you would certainly be correct to let the reader know in advance that you have a topic that is definitely the first thing you’d like to discuss. I will often ask in advance of a mini-reading (only 15 minutes long) if there’s a special subject that you’d like to cover, since the time passes so quickly. If not, then I’ll go down my track of covering all the major aspects that are coming up for you. But if your romance, or career, or dear departed loved one are the main reason for having a reading that day, I want to know that, so that I don’t waste time or energy on other things. (And you can tell me in that very general way - not giving away too much!)

So relax and enjoy - every reader is different, and some want you to interact, while others would rather you didn’t. Sometimes you’re asked to shuffle cards, and sometimes not. It’s best not to touch anything without permission, such as cards or crystals. Wait for the reader to give you your cue, but definitely make yourself comfortable. Hopefully, you’ve got questions, which I personally really appreciate, but other readers would rather not allow. I find it’s easier for me to have you ask your question right then, while we’re on that topic, but others might have you wait until the end of the reading. Also, I’m always taping your reading, so you don’t need to take notes, but sometimes people would rather take notes or the reader isn’t providing a tape. This is something you should find out in advance, and bring whatever you need with you. I also advise writing down your questions in advance, too, since people tend to forget things once they’re actually sitting for the reading.

If you find yourself a good 10 minutes into the reading and still don’t feel that the reader is tuned into you, by all means stop the reader and let them know this. If you tell them that you don’t feel they are giving you any information that sounds accurate, they may try to tune in differently, or have you ask specific questions, or ask if you’d like to stop the reading. You have every right to stand up and ask for the reading to end, and in most cases, you should not be charged. However, bear in mind that you are paying for the reader’s TIME, not the INFORMATION! This is a major distinction which many people fail to understand. It’s no different than seeing a doctor or lawyer who doesn’t actually help you or have the answer to your problem - you still have to pay them for their time! However, most readers are very quick to not charge if you’re unhappy, because your goodwill and comfort level are very important, and frankly, it’s just good business. But, if you’ve taken up the entire session, without responding, without letting them know that anything’s amiss, be prepared to pay for the session, or at least offer to, and see what the reader says.

Also, bear in mind that much of what the reader is talking about is in the future - that’s probably why you’re having a reading, is to find out what’s coming up for you. So you may well feel that they’re dead wrong in that moment, and then days or weeks, or even months or years later, the reading comes true! This has happened to just about everyone who’s ever had a reading - they’ll walk out thinking I’m crazy, and then that very thing that was so unlikely actually happens! I love getting that feedback!

And giving feedback is a wonderful thing - in any business! But in this business, so many times we never know the end of the story! I’m so grateful when someone calls or writes, or comes to see me again and lets me know how it turned out, or that my reading gave them the insight or information they needed in a certain moment of their lives. And of course, the best thing is when you refer your friends and family - that’s the finest compliment of all!

What type of reading should you have?

There are many types of readings you can choose from, and a lot depends on the type of information and guidance you’re looking for. For example, if you want to know more about yourself and your personality, skills, talents and challenges in this lifetime, you could choose to have your astrology chart done, or you could have a numerology reading, both of which are geared towards explanation and illumination of your traits and characteristics. They are based upon your birthdate and time of birth, for astrology, or the numbers that your name and birthdate add up to in the case of numerology. Because the astrological signs and the numbers have been given specific meanings, or interpretations, these readings are considered to be somewhat more logical or rational, even scientific, rather than being as abstract as psychic readings. With clairvoyance (clear seeing), clairaudience (clear hearing), and clairsentience (clear feeling) being used in a psychic or channeled reading, there is little that is scientific or logical - it’s all subjective and strongly open to interpretation by the reader. Not that astrologers and numerologists aren’t interpreting what they are getting, but they still are able to base their interpretations on something other than a feeling!

This is also true of readers who use other tools, such as Tarot cards, which tell a story that is true of each card, separate from the psychic’s impressions, or palmistry, wherein the lines of the palm already have a given meaning. Other types of “scientific” readings can include the I Ching or Runes, which are readings based upon symbols that have been given meanings, that are chosen seemingly at random by the Seeker. (Of course, we believe that there is no such thing as “random” but that there is a cause and effect to every action!)

You can then move into the more abstract type readings, when you are seeking information pertaining to others, or the past or future, including predictions and prophecies, or past lives, Spirit Guides, the deceased, etc. These readings, such as a Channeled reading like I give, or a reading based on Psychometry, which is the reading of an object that contains the vibration of a person, animal, or event (including a Billet Reading, which is the reading of words or a name on a piece of paper), are generally much more abstract and unstructured, based solely on impressions, feelings, visions and such, and are thus not considered to be in any way scientific.

Many readers use or at least know how to use many or most of these tools, myself included, but we find early in our careers that one or two become the method of choice. I had started out in my teens using the Tarot cards, but found after become a Medium that what I was receiving psychically or through my mediumship would often contradict what the cards were saying, so I had to make the choice to trust one or the other - I chose to “trust my gut” as they say, and the rest is history!

Can Anyone Be Read?

Yes, absolutely anyone can be read! I’ve often heard Seekers say that other psychics or readers would tell them that they couldn’t be read, that they were blocking, or resisting, or whatever. The truth is, the psychic was the one with the problem! There’s no way, in my opinion, to actually stop someone from reading you, if they know what they’re doing. I won’t say that some people aren’t easier to read than others, but if you’re a reader, you should be able to do what you say you can do! Just like in life, you’ll always “click” better with some people than others, and certainly some people have more going on in their life at certain times than others. But by and large, if someone who has any degree of experience in their field tells you that you can’t be read, run, don’t walk to someone else! You wouldn’t be happy with that person’s reading, anyway, as it was probably not coming from the right place. (By that I mean they’re likely not always using their intuition but rather other means, including reading body language, or using superficial meanings for cards or other tools, to give a reading. If the Seeker isn’t responding in as positive way, they’ll blame the Seeker, not their own lack of psychic ability!)

What will a reading do for you?

There are as many reasons to have a reading as there are people! However, I find that we all have the same general interests or problems: romance, finance, career, family, health, and then deceased loved ones, past lives, angels, spirit guides, and general metaphysical questions. Just about everyone I see will have at least one of these topics as the main reason for their reading, but most people are interested in just about all of them!

By far, most of my clients are women, and most of their problems relate to their relationships, whether they are with romantic partners or family members, close friends, or people at work. Career and money questions are the second big focus, and in my readings, the deceased loved ones are right up there, (if you’ll parden the pun) since that is one of the things I’m really known for. My forte is tuning in to people, either dead or alive, and what they’re like, what they’re thinking and feeling, and what they’re likely to do next is what people want to know.

I can tune into someone by touching them, holding a picture, knowing their name, or even without - I can just ask for information “about the person X is thinking of” or “about the person who ran into X” or using some such question, without knowing anything to identify the person in question. For some reason, I’m able to almost become the person I’m tuning into (the same with animals) and can tell what they’re like in personality, what they’re feeling, especially with regards to another person or subject, and what issues they’re dealing with. I can help identify blocks, resistances and problems for that person, as well as the strengths, talents and skills. Many times I can describe them physically, too, but the hardest thing for me to come up with is a name! Don’t ask me why, but names are not my strong point! LOL!

I’ve often been asked to tune into present and potential employees, as well as to describe patients for doctors and therapists. I can feel what they’re feeling and usually know in advance what they will do next, which way they’ll turn, and what they’re hoping to accomplish. This is especially useful if we’re tuning into a mate or spouse, or a boss, or a child, so that the Seeker, the person having the reading, can make better decisions themselves, or find a way to perhaps help or guide that person. Sometimes it’s best to know these things so they can avoid further contact and thus future problems with that person! In any case, we all have questions in our dealings with others, and that’s where a reading can be so helpful.

Of course, it’s also helpful to know that a new job is around the corner, or that there’s a new baby on the way, or that the house will sell soon, etc. Many times people have readings when it seems like nothing is happening in their lives, and the reading will tell why that is, and what is coming up next. However, most people come to me when they’re in transition - going from one chapter of their lives to a new one - and I help them to see what it’s all about, why they have created this particular change in their lives, and what it will take to make the transition as easy and painless as possible.

It’s most important to me to teach my clients the “why” of it all, not just tell them the “what”! I believe we create and manifest our lives through our thoughts and beliefs, our intentions, our fears, and needs and desires. Love and the need for it, the lack of it, and the human and spiritual relationship to it is the basis of everything for us. As far as I’m concerned, that’s what everything boils down to in the end, so if we know that in advance, we can choose our actions and reactions a little more carefully. My readings always contain this type of information, along with the answers to the “superficial” questions people have.

Have you ever had a Psychic Reading?

I hear from a lot of people who’ve never had readings, or just little “play” readings with friends who fool around with the tarot cards, or the Ouija board. I like to think that a reading is like sitting down with a good friend who just happens to be a great listener, therapist, teacher and intuitive all in one! In my readings, we get very comfortable and then I just start talking, after holding your hands for a minute. While holding your hands, I give a silent prayer in my head for help and healing. I don’t use any other tools of the trade, and obviously don’t really need to do that since I can read for people who aren’t present! But because I’m channeling, that means the tool is me! That’s why it’s called a medium, because I’m the medium through which the information flows, like a telephone is a medium or a television is a medium. I tune into my Spirit Guides, who run the show, and they are getting information from your Guides, and from our Higher Selves, and from the Universe, as well as from deceased loved ones, and also from the Akashic Records. The information tends to come out in a rush at first, as they’ve been waiting to say certain things to you for a while! Then I slow down and ask if you have any questions. If you do, that steers me in a certain direction; if you don’t, then I silently ask what is the most important thing we need to cover next, and it just starts coming out of my mouth! LOL! But if a person seems stuck, I’ll gently ask what prompted them to get a reading, or I’ll ask if they’d like to tune into a deceased loved one, or if they have a romantic partner or child they’d like to ask about. Usually those are most people’s primary topics of interest, so we launch into one of those subjects, and we’re off and running! If we have time, we’ll go into past lives and Spirit Guides, unless of course that’s what they came for in the beginning! Usually most people are surprised at how quickly the time is up, and have questions after it’s all over! That’s why I encourage people to start making their list when they make their appointment, so they don’t forget anything once they get there.

Hi - this is my first post!

My name is Debbie and I’m a Psychic Medium or Channeler. I’ve been very curious about blogs and finally decided to take the plunge and start one! I hope I’ll be able to help people with their questions about what I do, metaphysical and spiritual subjects, and anything else that might come up. I hope to hear from lots of people who have in interest in the same things I do, like psychic readings, the Other Side (Life after Death and Communication with the Dead), Reincarnation, Spirit Guides, Past Lives, Angels, and New Age philosophy and holistic healing.

Thanks for visiting my blog!
