Happy New Year!
Sunday, December 31st, 2006Here’s a letter from a listener to 93Q:
Dear Deb,
I listen to you everytime you are on Ted & Amy’s show. I am not able to call because I am @ work on a machine that I am unable to leave. I heard you when you were last on and you said you liked questions. So I ahve one. My mother-in-law passsed away last Sept and I have my bad days and good days mostly bad. What I was wondering was is her spirit ever around me? I am the 2nd daughter-in-law and I miss her terribly so much so that we have not put up a christmas tree since her passing it’s just too difficult. I just need to know is she ever near and if so when is her most “active” time I just want to tell her how very much we all miss her although I am sure she knows. Thank You in advance
Sincerely,
Nancy
Hi Nancy, thanks for writing.
Our loved ones are always around! Just like when they’re living, they want to know what’s going on with you, what are you doing for fun, etc. They want to participate and hang out, and certainly still have opinions about things! They constantly try to let us know they are there, but usually it’s so subtle that we just brush it off. So if you see your lights flicker, or hear noises, or even feel someone pull your hair, that’s probably a loved one trying to get your attention.
For example, where I used to work I would constantly feel as if someone had walked by me in my cubicle and hit the back of my chair. I’d turn around but there wouldn’t be anyone near me! I finally realized it was probably my mother, and learned to just say “hi Mom” in my head to her whenever that happened!
So yes, you can rest assured that your mother-in-law is fine, she’s constantly visiting you and the family, and the last thing she wants is for you to not enjoy Christmas or other family gatherings. Wouldn’t she hate it to think she’d ruined everything for you and everyone else? So, dry your eyes, and instead, think of the good times and the fun you all had together, and vow to make more memories from now on that the living can share. You can be sure she’ll be right there in the midst of the fun along with you!
Thanks for writing, and Happy New Year!
Debbie
