Dream Interpretation
Thursday, January 31st, 2008A dear friend and client recently wrote me this email:
“Debbie,
I had a terrible dream that you were not feeling well and very sick and I was worried about you… It was one of those dreams where everything was in complete darkness and you were in the light and then not and I heard you were sick, so you know how that set off many alarms.”
Here’s my response:
I’m fine! More likely, it’s anxiety about your Self, not necessarily your physical health, although maybe that, but your emotional health. Always in a dream, the people are representatives of some part of ourselves. You would have to decide what I represent to you - so if we were interpreting your dream, I’d ask you to tell me about Debbie, what she’s like, what is the first thing you think of when you think of her, etc. Describe her, physically, emotionally, etc. Then, you have to recognize that those are all YOUR attributes, being mirrored back to you through the symbol of Debbie. If THAT ASPECT OF YOU is “sick”, then you know where you need to help yourself to be well!
People often tell me they’ve dreamt of me, and I think it’s because I might represent their own inner teacher, healer or guide - since most often, that’s why they’ve met me, through having a reading, or hypnosis session, attended a class, etc. So if my friend is seeing me in the dream, and I represent her own guidance, which at first is in the light (being recognized or available) and then in the darkness (perhaps representing that she’s not in touch with own emotions, or her own guidance system) then she might have such a dream to help her realize that she needs to get back to her own Self as a source.
Indeed, she commented in the letter that another hypnosis session, where she had already been able to contact her inner Self, was a good idea - so the dream message from her subconscious worked!
Pay attention to your dreams - I think of them as the fastest and most direct way to find out exactly what’s going on with YOU!
