ANCESTORS INN AT THE BASSETT HOUSE
Head to Liverpool, N.Y. to find another ‘haunted hotel’. In this case, a B&B called Ancestors Inn at the Bassett House. Mary and Dan Weidman opened on Halloween ,1998. An omen for things to come? Footsteps, doors rattling, TV’s turning on by themselves and shadows on the wall are just some of the oddities that have been reported over the past few years by guests at the inn.
One particular episode prevents some people from going down into the cellar. The owner’s son spent a night in a room downstairs with instructions to take his prescription in the middle of the night. Making certain that doctor’s orders were carried out, a visitor from the past who identified himself as ‘Tim’, came to assist and then vanished.
Another more recent story comes from guests who were enjoying a picture book in the inn’s parlor. An elderly gentleman with white hair entered the room, sat down, observed and then left. According to the innkeeper, there was no guest that fit that description! Who was he and where did he come from?
With no knowledge of the home’s history or even its location, Debbie Crossman, a local psychic-medium, visited the inn and immediately connected with the presence of an older white-haired man who seemed to have a connection to the house, possibly the home’s owner at one time. She felt that he was a bit curious about those that came to stay and felt compelled to investigate. Confirming the tales of previous guests without even knowing what had happened, Debbie’s special talents were clearly confirmed.
